The four captains shared what it feels like to be part of it and what their expectations are. Having arrived in Szczecin with different histories, different backgrounds and different experiences, they are all excited about the great ambiance the fans are expected to create at the Azoty Arena during these four crucial matches.
“All four teams are very strong and they will fight hard. We have played in the Final Four five times, but we never won,” stated Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL’s captain Esra Gümüs Kirici hopeful that this will finally change this weekend. “I know there is going to be a great spectacle at the Azoty Arena here, in Poland.”
“We know what it feels like to win this trophy and we want to feel it again,” was the comment of Gözde Kirdar Sonsirma, the captain of the other Turkish standout at the Final Four, VakifBank ISTANBUL. “There are a lot of fans of both Turkish teams who will support us in Szczecin. These matches will be very important for them as well. For me, this is an important weekend...”
“It is a pleasure to be here, in Szczecin, and take part in the Final Four tournament. We will try to show our worth,” stated Francesca Marcon, captain of Italy’s Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO. “We know that we are not the favourites, but we want to show everybody that we are a good team. It will be very emotional for me to go out onto the court with all these supporters around. But we will try to play without pressure. We know what kind of team we are and we hope to play well.”
“It is pleasant that our opponents express their positive impressions of Szczecin and of our wonderful fans,” said Anna Baranska Werblinska, captain of Chemik POLICE. “For us, as hosts, this is a unique event. After all, such a prestigious honour does not happen every day.”
