In the first match of the day in this pool, France beat Finland in a three-setter showdown (26-24, 25-23, 25-23) with an effective and error-free offensive performance – 54% excellent spikes.
Trévor Clévenot helped his team to achieve the first victory in the tournament with 14 points. Toni Kankaanpää had the same amount of points on the other side.
Poland is now the only unbeaten team in the pool after an extremely thrilling victory over Turkey that was decided in a tie-break.
Dawid Konarski scored 22 in Poland while Burutay Subaşı collected 16 points in the losing team.
The spectators’ hopes were high in the final game of Pool A that was delayed from 19:00 to 19:50.
The volume of the home fans’ cheering in the “Crystal Hall” was loud, as both Azerbaijan and Serbia were on the hunt for their first success in Baku.
Serbia crowned a good match with an easy 3-0 win with 11 from Dušan Petković. Yevgeniy Kovalenko noted 14 points in Azerbaijan.
