WL: Serbia too strong for Australia, even in the mixed roster

Starting line-ups:

SERBIA: U. Kovačević, Ivović, Stanković, Jovović, Starović, Lisinac, Majstorović (L).

AUSTRALIA: Guymer, Sanderson, Mote, Walker, Sukochev, Williams, Perry (L); Australian first libero Jacques Borgeaud, broke his finger earlier today and he will not play in the second match.

From the beginning the game was tight. Teams played “point by point” but Lisinac with great block 1-on-1 brought Serbia 16-12 on the second TTO. Ivović won set point for Serbia (24-22) but they used the second one. Once again Lisinac was good and finished the first set 25-23.

Serbia continued with the pressure on Australia in the second set. With the great play of Kovačević  the hosts have led 5-2, but… Sanderson equalized the score at 12-12. Teams fought but Ivović again was too strong on the net for the Aussies  (23-20). The young Okolic went on the serve and with ace brought Serbia set point (24-20) which Kovačević used for 25-20 and 2-0 in sets. 

In the third and the last set Serbia was too strong for the opponent. Head coach Nikola Grbić has given the chance the other players, who were up to the task. Serbia led 13-8 and coach changed some players. Some of them have played for the first time in the World League. Milan Katić who replaced Ivović  scored two points in row (16-12) for Serbia. And Saša Starović is in the mood tonight, he brought Serbia  18-14 and 22-16. It seems that Serbia  easily completed this set 25-20.

Top scorers: Kovačević 14, Starović 12, Sanderson 13, Williams 12.
