Canada – Poland
East Europeans outplayed Canada by 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 28-26, 25-17) to secure the second place in the pool.
The third set was mostly competitive. The dramatic ending favoured the Polish team which won it by 28-26 to lead by 2-1 and was inspired to finish the match before a fifth set.
Tamara Kaliszuk contributed 21 points for the winning side. Tabitha Love was Canada’s top scorer with 20.
In the same pool, Bulgaria repelled Puerto Rican thrilling come back in a five-setter to beat the hosts by 3-2 (19-25, 25-27, 25-20, 25-18, 14-16).
Puerto Rico missed a good chance to celebrate in the tie-break as it opened it with a 12-10 and also had 14-12! Bulgarians managed to create 4-0 run and used their first match point to seal the deal.
The best scorer of the winning team was its captain Eva Yaneva with 22, while Puerto Ricans were led by Karina Ocasio – 26 points.
Bulgaria finished the weekend as third in the Pool K, while Puerto Rico remained a leader.
