In Bremen, the team led by Vital Heynen defeated Olympic champions Russia 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23) in front 2,500 spectators.
The best scorer on the German side was Christian Fromm (21 points). Dmitriy Muserskiy showed the best performance in Russia with 13 points.
These two teams will meet again tomorrow in Hamburg.
Another two giants met in a friendly match in their preparations for the 2015 Eurovolley.
The national team of Bulgaria beat Serbia 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-16) in the second sparring between two teams played in front of around 2,000 spectators in the „Arena Armeets“ in Sofia. Serbia won the first clash 3-1.
