Newest edition of the European League will feature eight men’s (divided into two pools of four each) and 12 women’s national teams (three pools of four each) with Slovenia in men’s and Hungary in women’s competition defending trophies.

The format of the competition has changed compared to 2015. Now, round-robin tournaments are replaced by the double home and away matches played in last year’s pool stage. The prize fund for both genders is 150,000 euros and provision is guaranteed ahead of the competition start.

The winners of the European League might join the 2017 FIVB World League and FIVB World Grand Prix by replacing the lowest placed European teams from 2016 if they fulfil all conditions and requirements set by FIVB for participation in these tournaments.

Pool composition (men), the competition will get underway on June 3-5:

Pool A – Bulgaria, Former Y.R. of Macedonia, Denmark, Albania

Pool B – Estonia, Belarus, Austria, Luxembourg

Pool composition (women), starts on June 3-5:

Pool A – Poland, Belarus, Slovakia, Albania

Pool B – Azerbaijan, France, Spain, Montenegro

Pool C – Romania, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia
