Newest edition of the European League will feature eight men’s (divided into two pools of four each) and 12 women’s national teams (three pools of four each) with Slovenia in men’s and Hungary in women’s competition defending trophies.

The winners of the European League might join the 2017 FIVB World League and FIVB World Grand Prix by replacing the lowest placed European teams from 2016 if they fulfil all conditions and requirements set by FIVB for participation in these tournaments.
