Los Angeles 1984, Athens 2004… Rio 2016! China have won their 3rd Olympic gold and completed their amazing journey at the Rio Olympics.

Despite losing the opening set against Serbia in the big finals – 19:25, the Chinese squad remained focused and kept improving their game. The girls coached by Lang Ping started playing outstanding defense and that was the key thing for taking the 2nd set – 25:17.

The third set was very, very important. China dominated from the start and escaped to 18:11. However, Serbia managed to make an incredible comeback and to reduce the margin to 23:22… Still, Ognjenovic, Boskovic and Co. could not tie the score. China claimed the following two points and won the 3rd set by 25:23.

The Asian team needed just one more set to finish the match and to win the gold medal. They once again started well, mostly thanks to amazing Zhu Ting (25 points), but Serbia remained close and eventually equalized the score at 20:20 in the 4th set. The teams were still tied at 23:23, while then China scored two points in a row – 25:23, 3-1 in sets!

It was over. China have taken the gold at the Rio Olympics.
