After losing to PGE Skra BELCHATOW, Tomis got back on track by claiming the last round of the national league and edging there Universitatea CLUJ with the score of 3:1 (25-9, 25-15, 19-25, and 25-12). They eventually stretched momentum on Monday as they downed Stiinta Explorari BAIA MARE in straight sets (25-20, 25-16, and 25-12) as these sides crossed their ways for the 1/4 finals of Romania’s national cup.
Fenerbahce will be the next stop since no matches are scheduled for this weekend in the domestic arena for Tomis.
“After a very intensive period we can finally enjoy a break which is good as the players were getting tired” says Tomis head coach Radovan Gacic, “not just physically, but rather mentally”.
“Fenerbahce is a great team but I have seen a video and it looks like they haven’t been playing that good recently. We will do our best to claim our home match because the return in Istanbul will be very difficult” adds Cuban-born setter Javier Gonzalez (pictured).
