With their ticket to the 2013 Girl’s World Youth Championship in Thailand guaranteed, Peru beat defending champions Brazil 3-2 (25-18, 18-25, 25-20, 23-25 and 15-10) in a match that lasted 2 hours and 18 minutes.
Peru’s strong defense allowed the team to pull ahead of Brazil to win the first set 25-18 in 25 minutes. While the Brazilian team dominated the action in the second set with their solid blocking and strong attack, but Peru took back the third set in 27 minutes. Brazil fought back harder in the fourth set to win 25-23 in 32 min. Peru’s victory in the fifth and final set was secured in its 15-10 win over Brazil in 17 minutes.
Argentina also earned a place at the World Championship next year after beating Chile (25/10, 25/11, 25/14) for third place in 1 hour 09 minutes.
