A 32-year-old American libero Watten returned to playing in the Plus Liga after a year. Between 2016 and 2018, the U.S. national team member competed for Cerrad Czarni Radom. Last season, he defended the colors of Berlin Recycling Volleys with whom he became the German champion.
Watten has been a member of the national team of the United States since 2014, winning the 2015 FIVB World Cup and 2017 NORCECA Championship.
Prior to Watten, Katowice engaged outside hitters Jakub Szymański (Buskowianka Kielce, Division 2), Rafał Szymura (ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle) and Adrian Buchowski (MKS Będzin), teenage middle blocker Kamil Drzazga with the 2.12m of height (AKS V LO Rzeszów, Division 3), setter Jan Firlej (Lindemans Aalst, Belgium), middle blockers Jan Nowakowski (ONICO Warszawa) and Miłosz Zniszczoł (Indykpol AZS Olsztyn), libero Szymon Gregorowicz (MKS Będzin), and opposite hitters Jakub Jarosz (Asseco Resovia Rzeszów) and Wiktor Musiał (KS Lechia Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Division 2).
Katowice will also have a new head coach in the 2019/20 season as Dariusz Daszkiewicz (Poland U23 Men’s national team) replaced Piotr Gruszka who took over the bench in Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, a month and a half ago.
