Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, who did not play the first round, started the title defense campaign by beating MKS Będzin in the 2nd round of the 2019/20 PlusLiga regular season without losing a set: 3-0 (27-25, 25-21, 28-26). Łukasz Kaczmarek stood out for the team that, a week ago, won the national Super Cup for the first time ever with 14 points.

PGE Skra Bełchatów beat GKS Katowice in a thrilling encounter by a 3-2 (19-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 16-14) to record a second win in as many games. Before the start of the match, the management board of Skra honored the players who won medals with national teams this summer: Szalpuk, Kochanowski, Kłos, Łomacz, Huber and Ebadipour. The player who was not in this group but has been winning many medals in previous years with Poland, Mariusz Wlazły, top-scored for Skra with 22 points.

Asseco Resovia Rzeszów once again failed to win the match in PlusLiga. They lost at home to newcomers MKS Ślepsk Malow Suwałki by a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-22). Resovia organized a little farewell ceremony for their former player Łukasz Perłowski, who retired at the end of the last season after spending 16 seasons in the jersey of this team. This was a special match for Ślepsk head coach Andrzej Kowal who commanded Resovia for 14 years (2004-2018) and won three Polish Championship titles with them. Bartłomiej Bołądź highlighted for the winning side with 20 points.
