38-year-old Daniele Santarelli has signed a two-year contract by November 2021. He has been at the helm of the national team since July 2018, and under his baton the Croatian volleyball players qualified for the European Championship without losing a match, won silver in the European Gold League and played in the semi-finals of the FIVB Challenger Cup. They reached the eighth finals of the European Championship and were defeated by Turkey, a EuroVolley finalist. Also, there they qualified for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which will be played in January next year.
”Daniele Santarelli is one of the world’s best coaches and we are pleased that he has decided to build on his international success with the Croatian national team. In the last eighteen months, we have achieved results that show that the team is making good progress, which was also confirmed by the management’s decision on a new two-year engagement. Finally, Croatian volleyball has the opportunity to achieve continuity in work and improve the quality of the game, and I am sure that serious results will not be missed. I wish the coach and our women’s team a lot of sports success, and I invite our fans to follow the actions of the Croatian volleyball teams in the next season as well!” – concluded the President of the Croatian Volleyball Federation, Ante Bakovic.
