And that is the main reason why Slobodan Kovac and Jastrzebski Wegiel agreed on the terms.

This is information we all know. However, we are bringing exclusive information about his discussions with JSW. Of course, the manager of Slobodan Kovac, Georges Matijasevic answered us the about the process of negotiations and the motivation of both parties to work together:

After staying without a head coach, Jastrzebski started searching for a replacement of the Italian coach Roberto Santilli. Their first choice from the beginning was Slobodan Kovac. We entered the negotiations and these talks were not that easy, but in the end, we agreed the terms because both parties were very motivated to work with each other. Kovac is happy with the roster because Jastrzebski have really quality players. When we talk about the national team contract since he is currently a coach of Serbia, Kovac is allowed to lead the club as well. The goals they set in front of him are medals in PlusLiga and to achieve the best possible results in the CEV Champions League. Also, Jastrzebski had several options for Santilli’s successor but Kovac’s recent gold medal at the EuroVolley and his experience with the clubs made the difference in the eyes of Jastrzebski,” explains Georges Matijasevic.

Slobodan Kovac is really an experienced coach since he worked in many national teams (Serbia, Slovenia, Iran) and clubs (Perugia, Halkbank, Belogorie, Radnicki Kragujevac) in a very successful way. With the Serbian national team he won the gold medal at the recent European Championship, while he was the champions of Turkey with Halkbank.

We will see how far he can go with Jastrzebski Wegiel. It’s going to be his first season in Plusliga.
