Prior to Belchatow, Petkovic spent two seasons in Italy playing for Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora (Argos Volley Sora) when he was among the league top scorers. In the 2016/2017 season, he was a member of Al Rayyan SC (QAT) and spent two seasons in France playing for AS Cannes (2014-2016).
