The Polish men’s volleyball club champions Jastrzębski Węgiel announced that Benjamin Toniutti has become their new player.
One of the best setters in the world, Toniutti, signed the contract with Jastrzębski, which will be valid for the next two seasons, with the possibility of extending it for another two. Thus, what was announced in the media in December got its confirmation now.
The name of Toniutti has so far been inextricably linked with Jastrzębski’s PlusLiga rivals Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle given that the 31-year-old France National Team member (with which he won the 2015 CEV EuroVolley and two FIVB World Leagues – 2015 and 2017) was a part of this club since 2015. During this time, Toniutti won three national championships (2016, 2017, 2019), three Polish Cups (2017, 2019, 2021), and two Polish Super Cups (2019, 2020). He was the captain of the team that achieved this year’s historic triumph in the CEV Champions League.
Toniutti is also a captain of the France National Team. His quality was confirmed by numerous individual awards, such as Best Setter of the FIVB World League (2015, 201), of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League (2018), of the CEV European Championship (2019), and of the last decade in Europe by CEV (2020).
