Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie beat Cuprum Lubin in Round 18 of the 2021/22 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship charts in a very strange match.
Aluron defeated Cuprum 3-2 as visitors in Round 18 of the 2021/22 PlusLiga, although they had no setters in their composition. This role was performed by one of the best outside hitters in the world Uroš Kovačević, who was chosen the best player of the match.
Due to the injuries of both setters – Cavanna and Tavares – the 3rd-placed side in the competition asked Cuprum to postpone the match to another date. However, the Lubin-based team refused the proposal and the encounter went as planned. The last time Kovačević played as a setter was during his youth career and today, so no wonder he sometimes had problems organizing attacks for his teammates, but the MVP award depicts that he did an amazing job for Aluron. Whenever he had the opportunity, the Serb spiked, earning 8 points in total.
Dawid Konarski and Argentine Facundo Conte top-scored the club from Zawiercie with 19 points apiece. Patryk Niemiec served 4 aces.
