Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle clinched their fourth consecutive title and their tenth overall in the club’s history, after defeating Jastrzębski Węgiel in a closely contested final that went down to three sets (26-24, 29-27, 25-23).
The Tauron Polish Cup’s grand finale drew an impressive crowd of 11,815, who were treated to a fantastic spectacle. Grupa Azoty ZAKSA put on an outstanding display, skillfully turning the momentum in their favor during tightly contested sets. The tournament was an overall success, with a fantastic atmosphere and the historic tenth victory for the Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
The captain of Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Aleksander Śliwka, delivered impressive performances in both matches. In the final, he scored 18 points with a remarkable 57-percent efficiency in attack and two point.
The defending champions were initially trailing by five points in the first set, but they proved their resilience by making up for the losses and defending the set ball. Eventually, they used the first set ball themselves and won the set with a score of 26:24.
During the second set, Jastrzębski Węgiel took the lead with a score of 20:16 and looked poised to tie the match. However, ZAKSA refused to give up and managed to level the score by scoring two points from 22:24. Like in the first game, they defended five set balls and then seized the first chance they earned, ultimately winning the set 29:27.
In the third set, the ZAKSA did not have to play catch-up with their opponents. Nevertheless, their victory was hard-fought, and they won by a narrow margin of only two points, finishing with a score of 25:23. After achieving their tenth victory and fourth consecutive win, they secured their title as the Tauron Polish Cup champions.
