Polish national team middle blocker Mateusz Bieniek has officially extended his contract with Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie until 2029. The team captain, who joined in 2023 from PGE Skra Bełchatów, has played a key role in the club’s recent successes.
A Leader on and off the Court
Despite starting his first season recovering from injury, Bieniek quickly became a team leader, helping Zawiercie secure Polish league silver and the TAURON Polish Cup. He also lifted the AL-KO Super Cup in September 2024, despite missing the match due to Olympic injury rehabilitation.
- “I feel great in Zawiercie. The club is well-organized, and working with coach Winiarski, who also extended his contract, is a huge plus. Stability is key, and I’m excited for the future with this team,” said Bieniek.
Impressive Stats & Records
So far, Bieniek has played 62 matches, scoring 605 points, with a 61.37% attack success rate, 97 blocks, and 71 aces. His standout performance came against GKS Katowice (2023/24), scoring a record-breaking 26 points—the most ever by a middle blocker in PlusLiga history.
A Strategic Move for Stability
Club president Kryspin Baran emphasized the club’s long-term vision:
- “Extending the contracts of both our coach and captain mid-season shows our commitment to stability and success. Mateusz has proven himself as a leader, and we are thrilled to continue this journey together.”
