POL M: The Netherlands men’s NT head coach Vermeulen takes over Będzin

Gido Vermeulen, currently the head coach of The Netherlands men’s national team, replaced Canadian Stelio DeRocco in MKS Będzin.

The 53-year-old Dutchman Vermeulen, who has been at the helm of The Netherlands Men since 2014, has established himself mostly as national team’s head coach. Before taking over the men’s team of The NetherlandsVermeulen led the country’s female team (first coach 2012-2014, assistant 1994-1998; won the 1995 CEV European Championship). Prior to this, he coached Spain women’s NT (2008-2012). Vermeulen was also at the helm of The Netherlands junior national team (2002-2007).

On the club level, he coached female clubs only: Italian female side Centro Ester Napoli, with whom he won the CEV Cup in 1999 (at the time, the tournament was named CEV Challenge Cup), Spanish Club Voleibol Tenerife, and Dutch VV Amstelveen.
