However, he will need to wait for a couple of years.

A 32-year-old player, who last time competed for the national team of his country of origin Cuba in 2008, has spent 4 years of his professional career in Russia so far(Yaroslavich Yaroslavl in 2005/06, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk from 2013 to 2015, and Zenit Sankt-Peterburg in 2017/18). His 5th season will be the 2018/19 as he announced to continue playing for the current Superliga runners-up Zenit Sankt-Peterburg.

„Camejo will be able to compete for the national team, but he needs to undergo the procedure for changing the sports nationality. Therefore, it is important what decision the International Volleyball Federation will make. The player must submit the relevant application, and we, as a national federation, will also contribute to its submission to the FIVB,“ secretary general of the Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV) Aleksandr Yaremenko said.

Camejo is 32-year old right now. When a period of two years expires, he will be 34 and the Russian media are wondering is he going to be useful for the Russian national team at that moment…
