On the paper, the vice-champions Lokomotiv had the easiest schedule in the first two rounds of the 2020/21 Superliga Parimatch regular season for women – against the two newcomers. However, after beating Tulitsa in the opener, the team from Kaliningrad was shocked by Sparta in the second round: 3-1 (25-23, 12-25, 26-24, 25-23).
The titleholders Dinamo-Ak Bars came back twice in sets in the big derby against the last season’s bronze medalists Uralochka-NTMK before prevailing in the tie-break. Recall that the Ekaterinburg side was stunned in the first round by the newcomers Lipetsk.
Mexican Samantha Bricio shone for Dinamo with 27 points, while Irina Koroleva made 6 blocks. Kseniya Parubets showed class for Uralochka, putting down 28 points. Elizaveta Kotova served 5 aces and set up 6 blocks.
