Fakel were supposed to be among the title favorites in the 2020/21 Superliga Parimatch regular season for men, but so far they failed the expectations of their fans. However, after two defeats that came largely due to the fact it has several starters on the list of injured players (Volkov, Shoji, Gutsalyuk…),  the Novy Urengoy team recorded their first win. In Round 3, they downed Gazprom-Yugra by a 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-15).

Fakel were led in scoring by Maksim Zhigalov (19 points through 72 % attack). Razhabdibir Shakhbanmirzaev collected 11 points for Gazprom-Yugra. Aleksey Chanchikov had 83 % reception (22 % excellent), while Egor Yakutin made 4 blocks.

It took Zenit-Kazan more time than presumed to prevail over Yugra-Samotlor (3-1) by which they kept the perfect record of 3-0.

The reigning champions Lokomotiv (18 points – 7 aces – of Serbian Dražen Luburić) swept Neftyanik (3-0).

Belogorie are still winless as they were surpassed by Enisey (Bulgarian Todor Skrimov 16 points), while Zenit Saint Petersburg beat Dinamo-LO in four sets.
