Even though they could finish it off in straight sets, still the hosts of Russia had to fight bravely from the start up to the end of the game as Greece displayed good quality to follow up on their excellent performances from the past days. With this result Russia completed their home tournament with a perfect record of four wins in as many matches conceding only one set to their opponents. The “final match” with Greece was attended by a large crowd that included also a good share of the Greek community from Anapa and its neighborhoods.
In the other match of the day – which was nevertheless not going to have an impact on the final standings – Austria cruised past Denmark in straight sets (25-17, 25-23, and 31-29) with a terrific fight unfolding in the third and last set where both teams displayed their best before Austria brought it home at 31-29.
