Belogorie will open their campaign on Wednesday hosting Belgium’s Noliko MAASEIK, a side that has been regularly competing in the CEV Volleyball Champions League. Back in the 2004/2005 season, Belogorie and Noliko were assigned to the same preliminary pool and they shared victories in their home and away matches. Before the start of this adventure Belogorie played only one game with the complete roster as they beat Zenit KAZAN 3:2 to win Russia’s Super Cup. As for Noliko, they lost to Knack ROESELARE the Belgian Super Cup, were eliminated quite early in the national cup but have scored two victories in their national league.
“This game is extremely important for my team” says Belogorie head coach Gennady Shipulin. “It is very important for us to start with a victory so that we get the right boost for the remainder of this campaign. We have won 99 matches in the European Cups so far, so we would be happy to celebrate the 100th before our fans. Therefore I invite as many people as possible to attend this game.”
