Lokomotiv Novosibirsk has officially parted ways with outside hitter Yoandy Leal, as reported by BO Sport and other Russian sport outlets.
The 36-year-old Cuban-born player, who also holds a Brazilian passport, joined Lokomotiv at the start of the season but faced challenges from the get-go. A lengthy recovery from a shoulder injury and struggles to hit his expected form left both fans and coaches disappointed.
Head coach Plamen Konstantinov didn’t hold back in a December interview, saying, “We haven’t seen the real Leal yet. His shoulder is fine now, but his game is far from what we need. We expected a powerful scorer, but so far, it’s not there. Will it ever be?”
