“To put it this way – someone has rushed with information” said Alekno for sport-express.ru and added: “We have not signed a contract with Marouf. He was on our shortlist when we were looking for a setter. We signed Toniutti and negotiated with Marouf pararelly. But, we could not reach an agreement. He is still in Iran, so we will play on the final tournament of the Russian Cup with Kobzar and Toniutti” said Alekno.
However, head coach of Zenit confirmed that deal with Marouf might be reached:
“Yes, but it requires a contract. He is definitely a quality player. But, do not know why Iranian media have already written that transfer is a done deal.”
