After they gave the chance to the setter Loran Alekno (the son of the coach Vladimir Alekno) and middle blocker Aleksey Kononov to join the senior squad, Zenit added another player that learned volleyball skills in their youth categories to the 2017/18 roster.

A 21-year-old receiver Andrey Surmachevksiy, a former Russian U20 National Team member, got the opportunity to compete for the powerhouse in Superliga.
