Galatasaray HDI Sigorta recovered from losing to Ziraat Bankası four days ago, by which their six-game unbeaten run came to an end, and defeated Spor Toto in the big match of Round 8 of the 2019/20 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi regular season. Galatasaray beat former leaders in the charts, who remained without their top scorer Daudi Okello (moved to play in South Korea), in straight sets: 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-20). Estonian Oliver Venno absolutely overshadowed all the other players on the court, chipping in with 26 points for Galatasaray, of which 6 points came from the service, while he had a 71% attack (20/28). Ali Deniz Yılmaz scored 11 points for Spor Toto. Galatasaray took over the provisional lead in the charts with 7-1 (20 points). In order to stay there until the next round, they will need a defeat of Ziraat Bankası to Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyesi in the match tomorrow.
The second-placed Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta (7-1; 20 points) extended their winning streak to four games, while Halkbank recorded their third successive victory but still hold the place not suitable for such a powerhouse. They came in sixth with 4-4 and 13 points.
