“This is our second participation in Europe’s elite club competition” said head coach Massimo Barbolini. “Last year we got a wild card but this time we got the right to participate in the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League via the results we claimed in the last edition of the national league. We have been assigned to a very tough pool with two strong Italian teams (Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO and Prosecco Doc-Imoco CONEGLIANO). We want to take it match after match, make it out of pool play and from there re-start our campaign to qualify for the final four.”
Team captain Eleonora Lo Bianco echoed the words of her mentor: “The CEV Volleyball Champions League is the absolute major Volleyball competition out there and the road to the final will be very long and difficult.”
“We have put together a very solid team” concluded libero Nihan Yeldan Güneyligil. “There are many trophies at stake this year and of course we would love to get them all. However, the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League is “the” tournament. We can’t wait to start this adventure and I believe we will accomplish our mission”.
