TUR M: Easy job for title holders, Ziraat and Fener among top 4 teams

Arkas Spor İzmir slowly recover from a slow start in Turkish championship as they scored third win, while Ziraat Bankası Ankara and Fenerbahçe İstanbul are climbing among top four teams in the standings.

In the seventh round of Division 1, Arkas prevailed over Şahinbey Belediyesi at home court 3-1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-18).  Gökhan Gökgöz showed another perfect performance and topped game scorers with 23 points. In losing team, Croatian Ivan Raić and Kemal Kıvanç Elgaz collected 14 each.

Ziraat settled at second spot in the table after beating tough team of İstanbul BBSK. Ziraat needed five exhausting sets to win, partially 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 19-25, 15-13. Dutch Jeroen Rauwerdink led corers of a winning team with 22 points. On the other side, American William Price collected 27!

Renovated team of Fenerbahçe plays better than expected and scored fifth win. Metin Toy was the main creator of a 4-set away triumph over Bornova Anadolu Lisesi İzmir. He scored 23 points. Ufuk Minici led scorers of league’s newcomers with 16.
