“We have to repeat the success we gathered last year in the CEV Volleyball Champions League” said experienced head coach Glenn Hoag. “I am happy to be a part of the world’s most prestigious club competition. We respect all the opponent teams and we have to work hard to repeat our success again”.
Bulent Kandemir, the captain of Arkas IZMIR, added: “The Ataturk Volleyball Hall is an ideal place to play Volleyball and the capacity of the hall has been doubled after the reconstruction. We believe that this hall is our “lucky” arena since we have claimed many wins here. We will work hard to keep representing our country in the best way in this elitist competition”.
After winning the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup in 2009, Arkas IZMIR played the final once more in the same competition in 2011 losing to Italy’s Lube Banca Marche MACERATA. Arkas IZMIR which is the only men’s club from Turkey capable of winning a European Cup in history wants to go one step further in the CEV Volleyball Champions League this season. To attain this goal the Turks rely on their great fans that will fill up to full capacity the splendid venue of their home matches.
