The guests from Germany caught a good start with the excellent service of Oliver Venno and Idi Martins sealing the deal with some good blocks (20-25). David Konecny and Yosleyder Cala paced TOURS VB in the second set with 5 points apiece and the final 25-20 was quickly there. After a tremendous battle that delighted the 2’500 fans in attendance at “Robert Grenon” sports hall, VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN – anchored by the 24 points scored by Venno – could celebrate its win at the tie-break, thus avoiding the golden set. The 25 points totaled by Cala and 22 of Konecny were not enough for TOURS VB to make it to the next round. “This is a major disappointment but our opponents deserve to make it to the Playoffs 6” says TOURS VB head coach Mauricio Paes.
