That day did not start well for DRESDNER SC as libero Kerstin Tzscherlich got injured in the last training session before the return match with the Russian heavyweight and Grit Müller eventually did replace her.

Even though we lost, we played much better than we did a week earlier and we showed our best. This adventure in the Champions League has been a great experience for our team” says the 27-year old Müller.

The game turned quickly into an uphill climb for DRESDNER SC that soon trailed 3:8 in the first set.

However, fighting for every single point, the girls from Saxony fought back to 10 all before they drew level again at 18.

However, Dinamo scored all deciding points to take the opening set 25-22.

Head coach Alexander Waibl asked for a time-out as the score stood at 7:11 in set 2 but the 2011 champions of Russia widened the gap (9:16).

DRESDNER SC committed many mistakes by that moment and everything was quite easy for Ekaterina Gamova & Co.(25-16).

DRESDNER SC played with glowing hearts also in set 3 but could not stop the march of Dinamo KAZAN that finished it off in 67 minutes to play Azerrail BAKU in the next round of the competition.

The Champions League has been a wonderful experience for me as a coach and of course also for the team. I am grateful to our management because they made this dream come true” says head coach Waibl.

After flying back from Tatarstan, DRESDNER SC is back in action already this weekend playing in Hamburg for the Bundesliga.
