The top seed Allianz MTV Stuttgart achieved a hard-fought win against surprising semifinalists and also No.6 seed Ladies in black Aachen, who eliminated powerhouse Dresdner SC in the quarterfinals, in Game 2 of the 2019/19 1. Bundesliga Frauen playoff semis.
Stuttgart prevailed in four sets, partially 25-23, 25-20, 15-25, 27-25, in an away match that was held abroad. Given that Neuköllner Straße, the home ground of the Ladies in black, was not licensed by Bundesliga for the playoffs, the Aachen team decided to move all of their encounters to Belgium. The Men’s team of Greenyard Maaseik was kind enough to show hospitality to the “Ladies” at their Steengoed Arena.
American Krystal Rivers was the best scorer for Stuttgart with 14 points while the Swiss Maja Storck poured in 21 for the Ladies in Black.
2019/19 1. Bundesliga Frauen playoff semifinals – Game 2 (G3 on April 18):
(6) Ladies in black Aachen – (1) Allianz MTV Stuttgart 1-3 (23-25, 20-25, 25-15, 25-27), series 0-2
(4) SC Potsdam – (2) SSC Palmberg Schwerin, series 0-2
