ACH Volley Ljubljana, the reigning national champions, announced the departure of their head coach Radovan Gačič. Gačič, who has been at the helm since the 2022/23 season, led the team to a triumphant season, Slovenian championship, national cup, and MEVZA league titles.
Stepping into the spotlight as the new coach is Matjaž Hafner. Previously guiding the Swiss team Volley Nafels for the last two seasons, Hafner is perhaps best known for his impactful tenure with the Austrian team SK Zadruga Aich/Dob from 2015 to 2021. His resume also includes roles as an assistant coach for the Slovenian men’s and women’s national teams, alongside a decorated playing career that saw him contribute significantly to the Slovenian national team and win national championships with Vileda Maribor and Fužinar.
Upon his appointment, Hafner expressed his ambitions for the team, emphasizing the club’s high organizational standards and its constant pursuit of excellence. Acknowledging the challenges ahead, he voiced his commitment to immediate action and his belief in the team’s potential to contend for the national championship title once more.
Hafner’s tenure is set until the end of the current season, marking a new chapter for ACH Volley Ljubljana as they aim to continue their dominance in Slovenian volleyball under fresh guidance.
