Canadian outside hitter Stephen Maar has signed with Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza for the next two seasons.
Born in 1994, Maar stands 201 cm tall and started playing volleyball at Bill Crothers SS, eventually joining McMaster University’s team. He has played seven seasons in Italy’s top league, scoring 2862 points in 229 matches and earning 20 MVP titles.
Maar’s career includes stints with Kioene Padova, Verona, Milano, Dynamo Moscow, Cisterna, and Monza, where he recently played in the Finals of the Scudetto, Coppa Italia, and Challenge Cup. Maar has been a key player for Canada since 2012.
Maar expressed excitement about joining Piacenza, aiming to help the team achieve its goals. President Elisabetta Curti praised his versatility and leadership, believing he will be a valuable asset to the team.
