Tommi Tiilikainen is no longer the head coach of PGE Projekt Warszawa. The Warsaw-based club confirmed the change in an official statement published on Monday morning, stating that the decision was made by the coach himself.

In a message shared by the club, Tiilikainen explained that stepping aside was, in his view, the best solution at this stage of the season. He emphasized that the team may now need a new impulse to fully achieve its sporting ambitions and wished the club continued success.

Club vice-president and sporting director Piotr Gacek said that despite less convincing results in recent weeks, the management had not planned a coaching change. Nevertheless, the club respected Tiilikainen’s decision, accepted his resignation, and thanked him for his work and contribution to the team’s progress, wishing him well in his future career.

Tiilikainen had been in charge since the beginning of the season. PGE Projekt Warszawa recently lost two consecutive matches in the PlusLiga but remains second in the standings, level on points with league leaders Bogdanka LUK Lublin. In the Champions League, the team currently sits third in its group with one win and two defeats.
