The Olympic champion from Rio in 2016 with „Seleção“ found himself in disgrace from his current club, whose legend he is. Wallace was suspended indefinitely by Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei. The Contagem-based side clarified that it didn’t compact in any way with the recent posts of the athlete Wallace de Souza on his social networks. Cruzeiro noted that “within the scope of the master sponsor of Sada Cruzeiro, the immediate removal of the athlete for an indeterminate time was defined, and a full retraction and public apology were required,“ while examining further measures on Wallace.
The Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) forwarded the case to the entity’s ethics committee. In an official note, COB classified as “unacceptable the post made by the player, who represented the Brazilian volleyball team in three Olympic Games and, in 2022, was a bronze medalist in the World Championship.”
The biggest punishment for an experienced opposite hitter is yet to come. The Attorney General’s Office (AGU) suggested banning Wallace from Olympic sports and imposing a fine of around 18,000 euros.
