The ninth round of the Italian A1 Volleyball League concluded today with five matches. The day was marked by the victories of Conegliano, Milano, Scandicci, Cuneo, and Pinerolo.
Conegliano Overcomes Casalmaggiore in a Close Contest
Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano defeated TrasportiPesanti Casalmaggiore. The match was a tough challenge, with Casalmaggiore pushing Conegliano to the limits in the first two sets, ending 27-25 and 25-23. Despite a strong performance by Casalmaggiore, led by Malwina Smarzek’s 19 points, Conegliano secured the win thanks to MVP Robinson-Cook (13 points), Haak (15 points), Fahr (13 points), and Lanier (11 points).
Milano Dominates Roma Volley Club
Allianz Vero Volley Milano maintained a strong performance against Roma Volley Club, not losing a single set. Despite a commendable effort from Roma’s duo, Bici-Melli, who collectively scored 22 points (11 each), it wasn’t sufficient to challenge Milano’s dominance. The standout player for Vero Volley Milano was opposite Paola Egonu, who scored an impressive 26 points and was awarded the MVP title. Additionally, Milano’s team was noteworthy for their defensive skills, achieving 12 kill blocks.
Scandicci’s Comeback Win Against Chieri
Savino Del Bene Scandicci staged an impressive comeback against Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76, overturning a 1-2 set disadvantage to triumph in the decisive fifth set. Despite strong efforts from Grobelna, scoring 20 points, and Skinner with 19 points, Chieri fell short. Scandicci clinched the victory, led by Ana Carolina da Silva’s 18 points, which included 5 blocks and 2 aces, and Antropova’s 17 points, featuring 1 block and 2 aces. Ora Lindsey Ruddins was the standout performer, earning the MVP title with her performance.
Cuneo Edges Past Busto Arsizio in a Tight Match
In a closely contested match, Honda Olivero S.Bernardo Cuneo emerged victorious against UYBA Volley Busto Arsizio. Adelusi’s 17 points and MVP performance, along with Stigrot’s 18 points and Sylves’ 14 with 6 blocks, were key to Cuneo’s success. The Busto team put up a strong fight, with significant contributions from Bracchi, Sartori, and Frosini, but it wasn’t enough.
Pinerolo Triumphs Over Bergamo
The match between Wash4Green Pinerolo and Volley Bergamo 1991 also went to five sets. Pinerolo staged a comeback after being down 1-2, winning the fourth set and the match. Nemeth led the charge with 20 points, supported by Ungureanu (18 points) and Akrari (17 points). Bergamo’s efforts, including a combined 50 points from Lorrayna (24 points) and Davyskiba (26 points) and 15 winning blocks, fell short.
