Zagreb celebrates 2 Croatian championship titles – men’s and women’s Mladost achieve hat-trick each

Croatia’s capital of Zagreb celebrates two senior volleyball championship titles as HAOK Mladost men’s and women’s team both prevailed in the 2020/21 playoff finals.

 

In just 2 days, sports association HAOK Mladost won championship titles in both men’s and women’s competitions in the national league – Super Liga.

Yesterday, men defeated MOK Mursa Osijek at home by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-17) in the decisive 3rd game of the playoff finals. The game itself was a replica of the previous two – Mladost dominated in the first and now in third, while Mursa dominated in the second encounter (all ended in straight sets – so, everyone took advantage of the home ground. Kruno Nikačević, the captain of Mladost and a member of the country’s national team, was the most efficient individual of the match with 21 points.

 

In the decisive 3rd game of women’s playoff finals today, Mladost Women convincingly defeated OK Marina Kaštela with 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-11) and took the series with 2-1. The most efficient player on the winning side was Katarina Pavičić with 13 points. Mika Grbavica set up 4 blocks.

Both teams of Mladost won 3rd championship title in a row. Men collected the 19th gold medal, while women won the 14th.
