The record winners of the Turkish Women’s Volleyball Championship, Eczacıbaşı VitrA, made the transfer of Jordan Thompson official.

Shaping the roster for the 2020/21 season, Eczacıbaşı has contracted U.S. National Team member Thompson. The 23-year-old opposite hitter played for Eczacıbaşı’s title rivals Fenerbahçe Opet last season, which was the first professional season in her career. Thompson had a major role in winning the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League of the USA Women.

The rumor of Thompson’s arrival at Eczacıbaşı has appeared more than a month ago. The other player with whom Thompson was about to come to the Istanbul team in a package, her compatriot Chiaka Ogbogu, hasn’t yet signed.

In addition to Thompson, Eczacıbaşı announced two more transfers: of the teenage setter Elif Şahin (Karayolları) and another youngster Merve Atlıer (officially, back from a loan in Karayolları). The club officially parted ways with American setter Carli Lloyd (will likely go to Èpiù Pomì Casalmaggiore, Italy) and middle blocker Ergül Eroğlu (Galatasaray HDI Sigorta).
