RIO 2016 M: Poland had no problems against Cuba, now they wait for the draw…

This is the final standings in Group B – 1. Argentina; 2. Poland; 3. Russia; 4. Iran; 5. Egypt; 6. Cuba.

It means that Argentina will play against the 4th placed team from Group A in the quarterfinals, Iran will face the 1st placed team from Group A (Italy), while Poland and Russia will enter the quarterfinals draw together with the 2nd and 3rd placed teams from Group A.

In their last group stage game Poland had no troubles to defeat Cuba. The white and red crew used this opportunity to make their final preparations for the knockout stage at the Rio men’s volleyball tournament. Now, Poland wait the draw to see who will be their opponents in the quarterfinals. The candidates are USA, Canada, France and Brazil!

*The first ranked teams of both pools will play against the fourth ranked teams of the other pool. The second ranked teams will face the second or third ranked teams of the other pool, determined by drawing of lots. The drawing of lots will be held after the last match in the preliminary round.

Poland – Cuba 3-0 (25:18, 25:15 25:17)

Poland: Kubiak 12, Nowakowski 9, Konarski 8, Kurek 6, Buszek 5, Mika 4, Bieniek 3, Klos 2, Drzyzga 1, Bednorz 1, Lomacz, Zatorski.

Cuba: Gonzalez 10, Hernandez 7, Rodriguez 4, Rojas 4, Jimenez 3, Castro 3, Arredondo 1, Nicolas, Alvarez, Delis, Sanchez, Cohimbra.

Group B: Argentina 4-1 (12 points), Poland 4-1 (12 points), Russia 4-1 (11 points), Iran 2-3 (7 points), Egypt 1-4 (3 points), Cuba 0-5 (0 points).
