Belogorie and Lokomotiv, the 2017/18 Russian men’s volleyball championship Superliga sides, exchanged opposites for the finish of the season. Belogorie got themselves German Georg Grozer and sent Maksim Zhigalov in the opposite direction!
Looking at the statistics, Belogorie benefited more from the trade since Grozer is the 6the best scorer of Superliga at the moment with 322 points while Zhigalov is the 84th with 95 points. Grozer was the most efficient at the very beginning of the season, in September.
Grozer has returned to the place in which he made some of his finest successes on a club level. The Germany national team bomber used to compete for Belogorie from 2012 to 2015, winning the championship of Russia one time (2013 Cup of Russia two times (2012, 2013), Supercup of Russia two times (2013, 2014) and, as an icing on a cake, Grozer won the 2014 CEV Champions League and 2014 FIVB Club World Championship.
As for Zhigalov, he took part in winning the Russian championship in 2013, being the backup for Grozer. Good displays in Belogorie recommended him to Russia national team with whom he seized the gold medal in the 2017 CEV European Championship.
