These 7 U.S. players have retired from volleyball and national team jersey

Over the past two years, the U.S. women’s volleyball national team have stayed without seven players!

Every year, the head coach Karch Kiraly is facing with the players’ retirements! He had the most difficult task to find a solution at the position of setter, since these two experienced players have retired in a very short period.

Below are seven players that have retired in the previous two years and the reasons for taking such decisions. We still don’t know why Courtney Thompson and Christa Harmotto Dietzen have decided to retire.

Alisha Glass (setter, 29) – getting married an starting a family

Courtney Thompson (setter, 32) – ?

Kayla Banwarth (libero, 28) – coaching job at Nebraska

Karsta Lowe (opposite, 24) – starting architecture school in August at USC

Christa Harmotto Dietzen (middle blocker, 30) – ?

Nicole Davis (libero, 35) – retired at the age of 33

Kimberly Glass (outside hitter, 32) – retired at the age of 30 because of injury
