The Vero Volley Milano confirmed that their setter, Alessia Orro, has not sustained any fractures following the ankle injury she experienced during a recent match against Il Bisonte Firenze. Orro, the captain of the Vero Volley Milano, was injured in the fourth set of the match held on Saturday. Despite fears of a severe injury after she landed awkwardly attempting to block an attack, further medical examinations have revealed no fractures.
Orro, a important player for Vero Volley Milan and the Italian vice-champions, began specific treatments immediately after the injury. The team has announced that she will undergo daily clinical and instrumental monitoring to ensure her swift recovery. This comes ahead of the crucial CEV Champions League Semi-final match against Fenerbahce in Istanbul scheduled for Tuesday, March 19.
The injury occurred as Vero Volley was leading the match 2-1 in sets and 20-11 in the fourth set. Attempting to block an attack from Cuban player Aliama Cese, Orro twisted her ankle upon landing. The team’s physiotherapist, Edoardo Chimenti, and medical sstaff promptly attended to her before she was carried off the court. Despite her absence, Vero Volley managed to secure a 3-1 victory over Il Bisonte Firenze.
