Russia won the battle for the No.2 in Pool D against the home side of Slovakia, achieving the fourth straight-set win (4-1 record; 13 points) in the tournament: 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-12).
Russia conceded only 35 points in the last-round match which is the lowest number of point that any team has conceded in the 2019 EuroVolley so far. Slovakia had no chance in front of the record crowd of 5,730 spectators at their Ondrej Nepela Arena in Bratislava and will play the eighth-finals as the No.3 in the pool but with a positive balance (3-2; 8 points).
Irina Voronkova scored 14 points for Russia, while Irina Koroleva made 6 kill blocks. There were no players with double figures in Slovakia while their best attacker today had only a 29% success rate.
