ITA W: Conegliano Secures First Place as Playoff Picture Takes Shape

The 24th round of the Serie A1 allowed for the first verdicts to be issued in a post-season perspective. Conegliano clinched first place in the standings after a 0-3 win in Florence. Milan won their direct clash against Novara, thus confirming the third spot and allowing Chieri to overtake their rivals after a 1-3 win against Bergamo. Busto Arsizio put a big mortgage on their playoff participation after flying +5 over Florence, two rouns before the end of the regular part of the season, thanks to their victory against Casalmaggiore.

On the other hand, in terms of salvation, Pinerolo’s victory in the tie-break and the point earned by Perugia in the fifth set against Vallefoglia condemned Macerata to relegation. Macerata was six points behind the Umbrians and with a poor set difference. However, the race to stay in Serie A1 between the Perugia and the Pinerolo will be alive as only one point separates them with two games to go.
