“So far we have taken maximum points from our matches,” Slabe says. “I can only say that we expected this and the results were well-deserved. These matches with Turkey are the first we played at home before our fans and of course we want to win again.”

The Slovenian team will be playing for two weeks in a row in Maribor, hosting Turkey this coming weekend and Macedonia next week. “We want to take six points from our matches with Turkey,” Slabe stresses. “After that we will be playing Macedonia which has already secured a spot in the semis and is definitely one of the strongest teams in this competition. We do not have to think too far ahead, but rather focus on our matches on Friday and Saturday with Turkey so that we can cash our ticket to the semi-finals. After that we will try to take as many points as possible from our matches with Macedonia.”

Turkey is currently ranked third in Pool B with three points. The matches between Slovenia and Turkey are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 6 and 5 pm respectively and will be taking place at the Ljudski Vrt sports hall in Maribor.
