We have the new European champion, the new MVP of the continent, but some things are still the same.

Once again there is a question of money, and a dilemma is the CEV Champions League actually a profitable competition for all clubs? Polish website sportowefakty.pl, reminded us all about this problem in the interview with Pawel Papke, the President of the Polish Volleyball Federation.

We are talking with the President of CEV (Andre Meyer) to find a solution how to help clubs on the financial aspect. It is not a simple thing, and it is a problem we are struggling with for many years. But, you have to understand that the Champions League in football and the Champions League in volleyball are two completely different things. Firstly, because of the popularity. In Poland, the interest about volleyball is huge, but in some other European countries it is not the case…” said Papke.

We have seven months until the start of the new Champions League edition. We will see if something is about to change until then…

In volleyball Champions League clubs don’t get any money, on contrary they have to pay to participate!!! In football and basketball all clubs get money for any game, victory or lost

it is impossible to compare volleyball to football. The big difference is that in volleyball once in a wile the sport will drow 10,000 fans in most of the competitions if you have 1,000 to 4,000 fans is viewed as a big thing. The TV viewers are the same thing no one knows how many are at front the TV. So I have the question; Where the money will come for CEV champion. SPONSORS!
SPONSORS are interested only in one thing RETURN on their investment and obviously they are not getting it. So that is the real reason that is so hard to find them.
Take in consideration two things:
1. Volleyball Team over head expenses from 20 -24 members to travel, transportation, accommodations, food and some additional expenses and you have the answer that such championship is THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM.
2. The European country calendar of the regular season of all pro volleyball leagues is so intense and full that is difficult to schedule such event, not to mention the players who are exhausted at the end of their season.
And Again THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM ! !

@GEORGE VISHEGONOV You are completely right. The sponsors ROI (return on investment). The biggist problem is that in this moment we can not offer them a good product that can make them interested in sponsoring and investing volleyball. There are many points that can be discussed about this but here are some I propose:
1. VOlleyball team in maximum should have 12 players 5 stuff people and in total can be 18 people and no 20-24 people
2. Federations and leagues can make leagues smaller (10-12 teams) with more competitition and to make international team competitions more interesting for sponsors
3. Sponsors want visibility, and you get visibility not only putting volleyball on TV simply selling TV rights if somebody want to buy them). Visibility should be first starting from the gym and the people who come to see the game live
4. Organizing the game as the main event, but also propose to the people many things before during and after the game (volley in family, meeting with players, let’s volley together etc.)
5. and many many other things regarding sport and non-only-sport activities that could bring people watch volleyball

And the most important thing: PEOPLE SHOULD COME TO SEE THE GAME BECAUSE THEY LIKE TO BE THERE AND WATCH VOLLEYBALL GAME, AND NOT BECAUSE THEY WERE BROUGHT (FORCED) TO COME BY THE ORGANIZATION MEMBERS!!!!! FROM THIS SHOULD START EVERYTHING
