The big question lies on whether the 28-year-old outside spiker can fulfill her dream of competing in the pinnacle of women’s club volleyball competitions – the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship.
Despite this setback, Daquis remain focused on achieving this aspiration of playing on the same field with the best players in the world.
“Every athlete goes through this kind of obstacle in their careers, but there is always one competition that will always inspire you to get back,” Daquis said. “For me, the Women’s Club World Championship is that competition I could not miss, that is why I am doing my best to recover.”
Daquis was chosen to be part of PSL-F2 Logistics Manila and was given the opportunity to serve as captain of the squad.
“I have a big responsibility to be the captain of this team,” Daquis said. “As a first-timer in this level of competition, it’s difficult to meet everyone’s expectations. So I just try to be a good leader to my team-mates. I just want to express to everyone that being in the Women’s Club World Championship is already an achievement for all of us. I believe that there are many positive things that will come out from this experience.”
